💡 Important Pet Resources

📱 Call 2-1-1: Ask about pet food banks, low-cost veterinary care, and temporary boarding
🚨 Animal Emergency: Call your local emergency veterinary clinic — find one on Google Maps
💙 Mental Health Crisis: Call 988 or text HOME to 741741 — do not call 911 for mental health crises
🐾 Pet Food: Many food banks now carry pet food — ask when you visit
🏠 Need Shelter With Your Pet: See our Shelter Resources page for pet-friendly options
💰 Can't Afford Vet Care: Ask about payment plans, CareCredit, or apply to RedRover, Waggle, or Brown Dog Foundation
🏥 Vaccination Clinics: Many animal shelters offer low-cost vaccine clinics monthly

What to Do If You're Struggling

Pet Food: Visit local pet food banks (search Google Maps), ask at animal shelters, or contact Pets of the Homeless
Veterinary Care: Look for low-cost clinics, mobile vet services, or veterinary schools that offer discounted care
Temporary Boarding: Contact local animal shelters about "Safe Haven" programs if you need housing but can't bring your pet yet
Rehoming: If you must rehome your pet, contact breed-specific rescue groups or no-kill shelters — never post "free to good home" ads (risk of abuse)
Pet Supplies: Check Facebook groups for "[your city] pet supplies" or "buy nothing [your city]" for free or cheap supplies
Spay/Neuter Help: Contact ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, or local rescues for low-cost or free spay/neuter services
